During Lent, our family has been doing a Kindness Challenge in which we are trying to do at least one kind deed each day during Lent. As part of our Kindness Challenge, my eldest son, Rory made a book of Helping Hands vouchers. On each voucher is a different act of kindness. There are things like ‘I will wash your car,’ ‘I will let you have a lie in,’ ‘I will make you a cup of tea’ etc. He is going to hand out his vouchers to different people. The vouchers would also make a great gift idea with the recipient being able to redeem their vouchers when they would like. With Mother’s Day fast approaching, I thought I would share this fabulous and very easy craft idea!
You will need:
– A piece of scrap cardboard
– Paper
– Hole Punch or Stapler
– Wool (if using a whole punch)
– Pens
On your scrap piece of card, draw round your hand. This is going to be a template so all your vouchers look the same. As this is only your template, you could use any old piece of card as long as it’s big enough to fit your hand on. Once you have drawn around your hand cut it out.
Draw around your hand onto a piece of paper and cut it out. Repeat this step until you have 11 hands.
To speed up this process you could cut several pieces of paper at once. Little ones will find it easier to cut a single sheet at a time.
Once you have eleven hands you can start decorating. On your first hand, make a front cover for your book of vouchers.
On the remaining hands, write one kind deed and then decorate. Make sure that all your hands are facing the same way when you are writing and decorating them. I put my thumb facing up and fingers pointing right so the base of my hand becomes the spine of the book.
Finally, you just need to fasten all your vouchers together to form a book.
You could either staple them or punch two holes and tie them together with wool or string. I think the bow adds an extra little decoration so I used a hole punch and wool for mine.
Your vouchers are now ready to distribute or to give as a gift on a special occasion.
If you have a go at making some Helping Hands Vouchers, I’d love to see.

This is the sweetest idea! I love it. My kids are too old for it now… though I’d wouldn’t mind me washing the card anyway! #PoCoLo

I love this, what a brilliant idea for encouraging children to do some little acts of kindness. Will have to try this with Sophie sometime. We did a little acts of kindness challenge with our church for Lent and this would have been ideal for the children. #MMBC
